Welcome to Sefofane FAQ

Sefofane operates in an environment that is foreign to many people. Operations into and out of remote airstrips with blue chip foreign tourists requires pilots who are technically competent and able to communicate well with clients.

Sefofane is privileged to fly into some of the most pristine wilderness destinations in the world. We believe flying is an integral part of a guest’s holiday experience and therefore our pilots need to have a fundamental enthusiasm for being in such areas.

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ASK

When choosing your charter company for a trip, here are some of the most important questions that need to be asked:

What type of liability insurance cover does the air charter company have?

All Sefofane aircraft with 10 seats have ZAR 70 million cover. All Sefofane aircraft with 6 seats have ZAR 40 million cover. Sefofane insurance does not have a per seat limit rather a per aircraft limit.

What training does the charter company give its pilots?

Sefofane pilots are almost all trained in Botswana and Namibia when they join Sefofane. We put them through a 100-hour training programme before they fly guests on their own. Our senior pilots in South Africa have all lived and flown in Namibia and Botswana for two to three years. This means that when they accompany guests on safari, they know and understand what happens at the destinations to which they are flying.

What aircraft has your charter company quoted you on?

Some of our aircraft are a five star luxury experience. Faster, more luxurious aircraft are more expensive to own and operate. If two quotes vary wildly in price one reason could be the aircraft selected by the two companies could be different.

Where are the aircraft based?

One of the biggest factors affecting the price of a charter aircraft is determined by its home base. If an aircraft needs to reposition empty to collect guests, this adds to the cost of a charter. Sefofane have aircraft permanently based in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe. No other single charter company in Southern Africa is able to offer this diversity in aircraft location.
