Landlocked in South-Central Africa, Zambia is prime walking country, offering impressive diversity as well as large concentrations and numbers of animals throughout its 19 national parks. Bird life is particularly prolific and 'specials' draw birders from all over the world. Add to this numerous adrenalin activities on the Zambezi River and Zambia qualifies as an all-round excellent travel destination.

Wilderness Air Zambia is our newest operation, with Lusaka as its operational base at which all reservations and aircraft scheduling take place. The main focus of the Zambian operation is to link the national parks and lodges in the area. Primarily, Wilderness Air operates flights between: Lusaka and the Kafue National Park 4 times per week; Livingstone and Kafue 3 times per week; and daily flights between Lusaka and Kalamu (Mfuwe).

Wilderness Air Zambia also offers daily flights to Lilongwe, Kariba and the Lower Zambezi, but these operate on a request basis with a minimum number of passengers travelling.

The fleet in Zambia comprises of a C210, C208 Caravan and a C206; specifically selected due to the vast distances it needs to cover, in line with passenger and freight carrying requirements. Like Namibia and Botswana, flying is the most obvious – and in some cases the only – mode of transport that connects the various camps and National Parks. Flights are generally long with the average flying time exceeding an hour between destinations. Specifically within the Kafue National Park, the transfer between Lunga and the camps are done by a 4-seater EC120 helicopter.

Our fleet is operational all year round, but in line with the operations of the camps. E.g., Kafue National Park closes for the months of January, February, March and April and South Luangwa closes from November to April due to the rainy season.
